A Missions Mosaic

In this issue of Adventist Affirm, Dr. Dizon shares a quote with us in his excellent article, Reflecting on the Global Mission of the Adventist Church, which hit me square between the eyes. "Compared to evangelism, everything else the church does is like rearranging the furniture while the house is on fire."
Obviously, mission is critical to those who believe in proclaiming the Three Angel's message to the world. However, we may not all look at missions in the same way. In fact, there may be some aspects of it we have not yet considered.
So here is a collection of articles—a missions mosaic if you will—of how a number of enthusiastic Adventist members are working amid the flames of this dying world to share the Good News.
Greg Emelander opens our eyes to Life in the Land of the Forgotten, Dale Goodson gives us fascinating insights into what might be clouding our ability to share with others in The Three Buckets, and Christopher Sorensen illustrates for us The Need of Every Man.
We get a glimpse into the struggles a missionary experienced when translating gospel material into a then-unwritten language in Trials in Translation, Ria de Kock shares a beautiful testimony in An Immediate Answer to Prayer, and The Barriers Within Us should give us pause to consider what we might further do to reach the world with the gospel.
I'm sure you know that Adventist Affirm has experienced troubles over the past several years. However, with Jesus' coming so close, and with the subtle attacks we're experienced to our church and our beliefs, we feel our members need Adventist Affirm now, more than ever. In future issues, we'll be looking at some of those attacks, and how they betray the Word of God.
This church is "on fire," and we need to have a laser-like focus on the essentials. Now is the time to hold fast to our beliefs, and to finish the Great Commission to the world, rather than let Christ's coming catch us "rearranging furniture" and "doing" church.
So stay tuned to AA! We promise you won't regret it!
